poem: her voice

(100 words) 12 Jan. 2018

By S.R.A. Markin

“keep writing.”
“i will.”
“will you read your poem?”
“i don’t have a nice voice.”
“i love your voice.”
“i don’t want to.”
“why won’t you read to me?”
“i didn’t know you wanted me to?”
“why would I have asked?”
“why are you so upset?”
“i am going to take a shit.”
i hang up and stand in the washroom. i push on my stomach, and i fart. i stand there before calling her back.
“do you want me to read to you?”
“of course.”
she reads to me.

her voice is beautiful.
